UPPER AUSTRIA LADIES - WTA Linz 2025

From 26 January to 2 February 2025, Linz celebrated its sporting highlight of the year as the 34th Upper Austria Ladies Linz once again turned the Design Center into Austria’s premier stage for women’s tennis. In the run-up, Tournament Director Sandra Reichel announced a world-class field at a press conference in Linz City Hall, joined by city officials and Austrian hopefuls Julia Grabher and Mavie Österreicher. With prize money of roughly one million US dollars, WTA-500 status and broadcasts to more than 150 countries, Europe’s longest-standing indoor women’s tournament was set to raise the bar yet again.

The event delivered on every promise. For an entire week, lightning-fast rallies, packed stands and an electric atmosphere thrilled fans and players alike. The emotional crescendo came in the 2 February final:

Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska after 2 hours 11 minutes, prevailing 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 and, on her third Linz final appearance, finally clinched the coveted title—proof that “third time’s the charm.”

What began as a commanding start for the 30-year-old Russian turned into a full-blown thriller, with Alexandrova holding her nerve in the deciding set to seal victory.

With this gripping finale, the Upper Austria Ladies Linz once again confirmed its status as a fixture on the international tennis calendar and a sporting showcase that puts Upper Austria firmly on the global map every year. A heartfelt thank-you goes to all players, partners, volunteers and fans. Linz is already gearing up for the 35th edition!
