Wein und Genuss 2023

WEIN & GENUSS Linz opened the wine year 2023 on 17 & 18 February

190 top winemakers from all over Austria and numerous culinary providers once again opened the new wine year throughout Austria in 2023. Vinaria, Austria's leading wine magazine, is the organiser of WEIN & GENUSSLinz.

The vintners came from all Austrian wine-growing regions, including tasting winners, trophy winners, SALON and regional winners. The Styrian winegrowers, who made up the largest regional delegation, took part in a trade fair within the trade fair. The booming volcanic region of Styria even presented itself as a complete gourmet region.

The Thermenregion - soon to be Austria's youngest DAC region - was represented with a communal area, as were the up-and-coming vintners of the Wachau's south bank. Wein Niederösterreich presented all 21 regional winners from the categories of the most popular varieties, white and red, sweet and sparkling, recently also orange. The tasting at WEIN & GENUSS Linz was traditionally done from noble Zalto Universal glasses.

Guest winemakers from Piedmont

Numerous prominent top winemakers graced the list of exhibitors, as did young talents and newcomers. Some wineries came from abroad, led by the two Piedmont wineries La Spinetta and Contratto of the Rivetti family and their Tuscany winery.

In between, wonderful Frankenmarkt water sparkled or fresh pastries from Resch & Frisch were a treat for the palate. The roasters provided coffee and the beer in between came from the breweries Stift Schlägl and Linzer Bier.
